Jammu and Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) are agitated over non filling of engineering vacancies available at various levels of the Power Development Department. Also, JKEEGA showed concern over slow progress over promotions at various levels from junior engineers to Chief engineers in the department.
Nearly 661 engineering cadre posts are lying idle as per JKEEGA. As per reports, no filling up of vacancies has been done since the year 2015 at the junior engineer level which is the basic building block of engineering fraternity. As per JKEEGA statement, there is no head for 20 administrative divisions, and 103 subdivisions for several months.
“By denying the officials timely promotions they not only have to suffer monetarily but also at the cost of their much desired and needed career progression,” the statement read.
Graduate Engineering fraternity expressed strong resentment over the non- filling up of the clear cut vacancies available at various levels of the Power Development Department. A large number of engineers have retired and many more are retiring and are eligible for placement to higher levels with all formalities having been completed, but despite that the formal orders for their placements are not being issued.
